Preceptor Development: Training Preceptors on Motivational Interviewing

In order to receive credit for this web-based continuing education program, you must complete the following:

1. Contact Bethanne Brown at Bethanne. Brown@uc.edu to receive a copy of the pre-test. Complete the pre-test and return via FAX to my attention at 513-558-4372.
2. Watch the video lecture at the link listed below and read the recommended reading materials.
3. Once a completed pre-test has been received, a post-test and evaluation tool will be sent via e-mail. These must be completed and returned within 7 days of receipt by Fax to the above number. Please include a home/work mailing address.

Once all documents have been received, a certificate will be mailed to the address provided.

At the completion of this program, the participant will be able to:

• Describe the 5 principles of motivational interviewing including: expressing empathy, developing discrepancy, avoiding argumentation, rolling with resistance, and supporting self-efficacy
• Individually create motivational interviewing dialog by responding to written case scenarios
• Using interactive exercises effectively to identify and demonstrate appropriate motivational interviewing techniques
• Constructively evaluate others ability to demonstrate effective motivational interviewing technique using provided evalaution tools.

The University of Cincinnati James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Universal Program Number 050-000-08-029-H04-P. This program is worth 0.2 CEU (2 contact hours).

This program is sponsored by the Winkle College of Pharmacy and there is no cost to participate in this Program.

Pharmacy continuing education credit will be earned based on participation in the program verified by the completion of a registration form and by completion of a post-test. Participants who participate in this program will receive a statement of credit for this program at the end of the post-test.
